Every day we see more and more people voicing the opinion that a VOLUNTARY TAX on Marijuana would be Smart Fiscal Policy.
I would not pay a penny, I don't smoke it! Let drug users pay taxes... The State of California could use the money to fund parks, schools and LAWN FORCEMENT! Imagine if we used the billions wasted by attacking reefer puffers and spent it on the heroin and methamphetamine crimes... Those drugs are actually dangerous and the people that use them turn into menaces to society... Really dangerous people doing actual harmful crime...
Let's do the SMART thing and TAX HEMP! Paper, cloth, medicine, recreational drug, food, fuel, bird seed, cattle feed, particle board, biodiesel... we could be growing a hundred thousand acres of industrial grade hemp in the USA and make products that do not pollute like the plastics they could replace.
Take for example: rope... currently made out of nylon with a biodegrade life cycle of hundreds of years... could be made from hemp and simply burned for fuel when the value as a rope has been exhausted...
Or consider paper... We print billions of pages of 81/2x11 sheets of paper in out computer office printers each year... If the Constitution of the USA and the Declaration of Independence can be printed on HEMP, why not our spreadsheets and business letters?
